Hello! We, (Paul and Lauren), are Ireland’s UN Youth Delegates for 2017/18.
We are undertaking a survey of young people and the youth sector to get YOUR views on issues affecting young people in Ireland and how we might tackle these. We are also looking for your views on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We need your help with this.
This is a big year for Ireland. The first ever SDG National Implementation Plan is currently being worked on and will be launched in early 2018. Then, in July 2018, the Irish Government will travel to the United Nations in New York and will present how well Ireland is doing to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The SDG Agenda is a global agreement, involving all countries and communities throughout the world, to tackle some of the most challenging issues we face today.
As part of this review, the UN Youth Delegates (us!) will prepare a report on young people in Ireland and the Sustainable Development Goals. We are undertaking this work because we strongly believe that young people have to be at the core of the Sustainable Development Goals if these goals are to be achieved. As UN Youth Delegates, we want to know what the biggest issues and challenges are that i) you and ii) Ireland as a country face in achieving the SDGs. Your input is incredibly important. Your voice, response and opinion will be shared with Governments in Ireland and throughout the world. We will also share the final report from your inputs with you and with others locally, nationally, at European and global levels.
Young people will be the driving force behind achieving these Goals over the next 15 years, so it is crucial we have our voices heard!
We value your voice and opinion.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share this survey with your friends, colleagues – we want to get the broadest voice and opinion possible.
Please respond by January 12th 2018.
