First round offers will be available on Monday 22nd August; you have a week to consider before you accept the offer. A reply date will be printed on Offer Notices. If you wish to accept an offer, you must do so by 5:15pm on the “Reply Date” printed on the Offer Notice. The closing date for acceptance of CAO round one offer is 5.15pm on August 29th. If you are unavailable, someone else may accept on your behalf, as long as they have the offer notice.
Monday morning arrives, maybe you haven’t received an offer. Don’t panic.
The good news is that your application will continue to be processed for the next round of offers. At this stage it is hard to tell how many offers will be made in Round two, but some courses may not have filled their quotas in round one. Round two offers will be available on1st September and the closing date for acceptance of these offers is 7th September following round two, offers will be issued until October to fill any vacant places that may arise.
If you were not made an offer this year, you may decide to return to school and repeat your leaving cert. Before deciding what to do, talk to your parents, teachers about the best course of action.Consider whether you are likely to perform better than last year. You can do this by asking your teachers for their opinion, and by critically assessing your own work.
Did you work to your full potential?
How much effort did you give to particular studies?
Did you waste time?
Were you easily distracted or disorganised?
What is going to change that means you will do better this year than last?
Consider whether your choice of studies clearly reflected your strengths.
