Preparing for a successful transition from second level to Further / Higher education

A Free Information Event for Transition Year and Senior Cycle students and their Parents/Guardians

Wednesday, 25th October at 7.00 – 9.00 pm in the Talbot Hotel Wexford

Talks and Information Stands including:  WWETB, Carlow IT Wexford Campus, WLD

Keynote Speaker: Catherine O’Connor, Education Consultant and Author of ‘Cracking the College Code’.  Catherine’s talk will address the many issues that influence success at college and the challenges facing students and their parents in making the transition to college including:

  • Making informed course and college choices
  • Reasons for withdrawal from college
  • Where and when to look for help
  • Living at home or away

This event is organised by Co. Wexford Education Network with support from Wexford Local Development.

Catherine O’Connor works as an Education Consultant bringing her specialist knowledge in the area of student recruitment to the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin University. Author of ‘Cracking the College Code – A practical guide to making the most of the first year college experience'(www.crackingthecollegecode.ie ), she is a regular contributor to regional radio, television and national radio and print media, the Irish Times and Irish Independent, on the subject of making the transition to third level. Also featured in the Education Year Book 2016/2017, the Farmers Journal, Sunday Times and in Woman’s Way magazine. Public lectures – Open Day at TCD and College Awareness week and nationwide information talks on ‘Making a successful transition to College’.
